A funny thing happened during the Great 8 Awards ceremony on Friday at the 2019 Detroit Autorama. When they came to give the award to Quint Walberts of Quint’s Kustom Kolors, he wasn’t there. Quint was called away and couldn’t be there to receive the award. They put the Great 8 award standard up in his display however, and his 1941 Willy Pro Street Coupe will be among the front runners to become this year’s Ridler Award winner.
But we caught up with Quint to give us the down low on his awesome Pro Street Willys. (Click the video window to listen to the interview.)
The Pro Street Willys has a GM ZZ 572 ci engne producing 620 horsepower. It has a Turbo 400 manual valve body automatic transmission with a 4000 stall converter. The Mossier rear end uses an aluminum Wave Track 411 gears. It has a Ridetech Shockwave suspension and an all tube chassis. The leather interior was done by Cutters Hot Rod Interiors.
Here is how the 1941 Willys Pro Street Coupe looked on Friday:
