Car Shows, Hot August NightsCar Show at the Peppermill HotelAn interesting 1962 Studebaker GT Hawk was on display. This is a very nicely done custom with an R3 supercharger system as you would have seen on the Studebaker Avanti. Also on South Virginia Street in Reno is the Peppermill Casino and Spa, one of the newest casino resorts in the area. It’s car show area was a popular venue for registered car show entrants. A 1955 Chevy Custom arrives at the Peppermill on Wednesday. Here are some of the top cars we found at the Peppermill. This incredible 1955 Chevy Nomad has to be the most spectacular restoration we’ve seen so far. Ray Camacho and Santana Herda-Camacho from South San Francisco, California brought this car to the show. It is a replica of the 1954 GM Motorama concept car that is chronicled so prominently by automotive historians. It uses a 1955 Chevrolet Nomad frame and is hand fabricated with metal panels and a widened 1955 Corvette body. This is an amazing undertaking. We like the results. It is “the fastest 1946 Ford in the world.” That is what the logo said on the promo materials for this 1946 Ford Pro Mod race car that was displayed at the Peppermill Casino and Spa in Reno on Thursday. It was displayed by Butch Ranson of Ranson Racing. The car has a 541 ci aluminum Keith Black block with 14:71 RBS supercharger and Enderle fuel injection transfering power thorugh a CRE Dedenbear Powerglide to a Mark Williams Pro Mod rear end. The brute power defies gravity as it runs the 1/8-mile in 7.50 seconds at 180 mph. An interesting 1962 Studebaker GT Hawk was on display. This is a very nicely done custom with an R3 supercharger system as you would have seen on the Studebaker Avanti.
