Rare Classic Woodies

Only at the Wavecrest Woodie Car Show will you find rare classic woodies like the ones you will see here on this page. We caught these photos today at the Wavecrest Reunion in Encinitas, California. While most of the woodie wagons that gathered here were Fords, Mercurys, Pontiacs and Chevrolets there was also some that you may have never seen before anywhere. You would only find them here at the world’s largest woodie car show.

This 1959 Morris Minor Woodie Wagon is the car used in the promos for this year’s 35th Annual Wavecrest Woodie Show.

1932 Rolls-Royce front view — 1932 Rolls-Royce Phantom II was rebodied by a South African who fashioned it as a boattail tourer. It is a 40/50 hp model. See boattail rear view in picture at the top of this page.

1938 Packard 1600 Woodie Station Wagon — We remember this 1938 Packard 1600 Station Wagon from last year’s show. It was special ordered in 1938. Then it was sent to Cantrell for wood fitment. Cantrell also did the color coordinated faux leather roof. The 122″ wheelbase car has an actual overall length of 196 5/16″. It was brought to the Wavecrest Woodie Show by Art and Linda Wesselman.

The 1947 Chrysler Town & Country Woodie Convertible is considered to be one of the most exclusive and beautiful wood bodied vehicles of all time. It was brought to the show by Luann Esposito from Encinitas, CA.

This 1947 Mercury 4X4 Woodie Wagon is one of only five such vehicles built with the Marmon-Herrington single speed transfer case making it an all-wheel-drive vehicle which was way ahead of its time.

The 1941 Packard 120 Woodie Station Wagon is one of only 14 made.

1949 Dodge Power Wagon — It was hard to get a clean shot of this 1949 Dodge Wood Bodied Power Wagon emergency vehicle because it was always surrounded by spectators. Randy Palmer from Costa Mesa, California brought this incredible find to the Wavecrest Woodie Car Show today. They say it still has just 31k original miles.

1971 Morris Traveler Woodie Wagon — Another classic microcar woodie came to the show from Bonita, CA. John Stegpy He was one of the event organizers.

1952 Dodge Woodie Bus — A 1952 Dodge Woodie School Bus may have been used to haul children to school over rough terrain. This one came from the Los Angeles area.
