Final 2017 Market Trends Report Revealed

In the final 2017 Market Trends Report published by Cars-On-Line.com, prices on collector cars have dropped two percent  compared to prices noted last year at this time. Their research uses a test group of the most popular collector cars. While a two percent drop is nothing to be concerned about, car collectors have been hoping to see increases in collector car values, not decreases. Collector car values have failed to rise in the past few years. But a discernable decline in collector car values shows the trendline is pointing downward which is a little unsettling for the market. The Cars-On-Line report covers the sales prices of collector and specialty cars during the last six months of 2017.

While Ford brand collector cars have managed to move slightly higher in value, every other major make of collector car has shown a slight drop in values during 2017. Below is the sample group of collector cars which change hands frequently in the collector car market. The numbers you see here are an average of the actual prices paid at collector car auctions and from private sales of collector cars. Compare average values between 2016 and 2017. The first column shows 2008 prices at the height of the collector car market prior to the economic recession when prices took a tumble.
