Classic Car Prices for 2018 Are Up So Far

Classic Car Prices for 2018 are up by 6.5 percent, according to the new Collector Car Market Trends Report pubished by Cars-On-Line.com today.  Cars-On-Line.com readers have been awaiting a fresh Market Trends Report for 2018 hoping to hear that collector car values have risen during the first half of 2018. And that seems to be the case. While Big Three names such as Chevrolet and Chrysler products (Mopars) were up by 10 percent and seven percent, respectively, classic Fords values were down slightly.

If there is a caveat here, prices jumped at the beginning of 2018 with great results at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. Since that time we have been seeing weakening results at classic car auctions across the U.S. As the summer goes on we will be looking for auction results at the Monterey Auctions during Pebble Beach week in California. That is usually when collector car prices spike.

The Collector Car Market Trends Report is published by Cars-On-Line.com, reflecting classic car prices based on actual sales. Their research uses a test group of the most popular collector cars, ones which will change hands most often in the Collector Car Market.

The first column below shows 2008 prices at the height of the collector car market prior to the economic recession after which classic car prices took a tumble. The next two columns compare actual sale price averages for 2017 and 2018 respectively.
