ACD Festival Parade of Classics …
The best part of the ACD Festival is the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Parade on Saturday morning. Every year they hold the festive ACD Concours at Eckhart Park here in Auburn, Indiana. After the judging, the vintage Auburns, Cords and Duesenbergs all profile out of the park and parade through Auburn down Jackson Street in front of the courthouse square. People will come from miles around for the opportunity to see these cars once again dominate the streets of Auburn. This is another item you’ve got to put on your bucket list.
All the cars from the ACD Concours paraded down Jackson Street, turned at 2nd Street and turned again down Main Street past a stage where an announcer provided information on the type of car and owners. We were able to shoot the cars at a couple of different locations including on Main Street in front of the court house. We got some great video during the parade.
It makes your heart swell to see these vintage motorcars all together in one place. It is amazing how many Auburns you see in this parade. Because the Auburn Motor Company was headquartered here for so many years, from the turn of the century until the late 1930’s, there are a good number of them preserved by ACD club owners here. There is a good variety of car preserved, from the early Auburns to the 852 models that made were produced in much higher numbers. Far fewer of the Duesenbergs have survived.
