2019 Amelia Island Concours This Weekend

The Best of Show winners for the 2019 Amelia Island Concours were just announced here on Sunday afternoon. The Best of Show Concours D’Elegance winner is a 1938 Mercdes-Benz 540K from the Keller Collection of Petaluma, California,  and the Concours De Sport winner is a 1957 Ferrari 335S  owned by Cavalino Investments, of Cortland, Ohio. The Concours D’Elegance and Concours De Sport Best of Show awards are among the most important trophies in the collector car hobby.

Elegant roadsters and stately vintage touring cars covered the showfield at The Golf Club of Amelia Island and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel complex on Sunday. The Amelia Island Concours D’Elegance is the biggest event of its kind on the East Coast, and rivals the pomp and circumstance of legendary events such as Pebble Beach and the Meadowbrook Concours scheduled for later in the year. Some of the best classic and exotic cars in the world are represented here.

In auction action earlier Saturday, the top sale of the weekend happened at the RM Sotheby’s Auction in a prelude to the 2019 Amelia Island Concours D’Elegance. When a 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB by Scaglietti crossed the auction block the crowd came to their feet as the bid reached $2 million. It was the top sale of the weekend, but only one of many that reached the seven figure mark making for a very successful auction event. RM Sotheby’s is the official auction house for the Amelia Island Concours. They concluded a two-day sale here on  Saturday with about 140 vehicles to be auctioned off over the two days. The inventory had many high-end collector cars as well as classic European sports cars, vintage American luxury cars and exotic cars. The show, starting on Thursday and running through Sunday, March 7-10, 2019,  is a world class exhibition of automotive history. Nowhere will you see the variety of rare vintage cars like you do here at Amelia Island. A wild round of auction action happened here on Friday during the 2019 Amelia Island Concours weekend. Several cars topped the million dollar mark as the Gooding & Company Auction and the RM Sotheby’s Auction vied to record the highest sales here on Friday. Both auctions had some incredible cars on their auction dockets. 

Gooding & Company recorded their top sale when a 1930 Packard 734 Speedster Runabout Boattail sold at the hammer for $1,600,000. Lots of Porsches at the auction on Friday also, most sold with a couple passing the million dollar mark.  The top Porsche sale was a 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach at $1,350,000. On Thursday we were watching some of the action at the Bonhams Auction. The top sale was  a 1930 Cadillac Series 426 V-16 Roadster which sold for $1,075,000. Bonhams was featuring the Don Bolton Collection of Brass Era cars (28 vehicles)  plus there were a large number of other Brass Era cars at this auction sale. Several of the cars from the Don Bolton Collection sold over $250k with the high sales a 1904 Peerless Type 8 Selling for $630k and the 1913 Mercer Type 35J selling for $810k. 2019 Arizona Auction Week  …

Saturday, January 19, 2019 – Scottsdale, AZ. — There is a reason they call it “Prime Time” Saturday here at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction. The unending array of incredible classic cars, muscle cars and resto mod customs parading across the auction stage just kept building. Then the 2019 Ford GT Heritage Edition appeared on the stage and the intense bidding brought the event to a crescendo of excitement. The crowd, now on its feet, watched as the first production 2019 Ford GT retro car, VIN 001, commemorating Ford’s famous wins at the 24 Hours of Lemans, sold for $2.5 million. All of the proceeds of the sale will go to benefit the United Way of Southeastern Michigan. The winning bidder and new owner is Rick Hendrick, legendary NASCAR team owner and his Hendrick Motorsports franchise, a member of the Cars-On-Line.com Classic Dealer Network. The flurry of bidding was a fitting finale for what is billed as the World’s Greatest Collector Car Auction, the Barrett-Jackson. 

It was”Prime Time” Saturday here at the 48th Annual Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. And if you’re a car guy there is no place you’d rather be. The air was absolutely electric with anticipation as some of the finest classic cars, muscle cars and resto rods in the world will be on display and for sale here today.  The carnival atmosphere makes you feel like a kid at a circus. It has all the glitz and  glitter of a Hollywood premier, and just as many celebrities.

  • Top sale at the Barrett-Jackson Auction, a 2019 Ford GT Heritage, VIN # 001, to benefit United Way

Friday at the Barrett-Jackson Auction …

The Barrett-Jackson Auction was in full swing here on Friday as charity auctions raised millions of dollars to benefit a myriad array of important organizations. Ford Motor Company auctioned off the first 2020 Shelby GT500 (which will actually be produced in July 2019, the car shown is a prototype.) It will be VIN 001 and will be a supercharged 5.2 Liter producing over 700 horsepower. All of the proceeds of this sale went to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The bidding reached $1.1 million as the winning bidder was Craig Jackson, CEO of Barrett-Jackson. 

NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon raised $600,000 for his Children’s Foundation by selling his supercharged 2016 Corvette C7.R. The car first sold to Ron Pratt, a well-known car collector and developer in the Phoenix area. He bought the C7.R for $400,000, then gave it back to the auctioneer to sell it again. It sold the second time for another $200,000. 

A rare heart felt moment came when Gas Monkey Garage and actor Gary Sinise sold a custom 1981 Jeep CJ-7 Resto Mod to benefit the Gary Sinise Foundation to provide unique services to our military veterans. Ron Pratt again bought the Jeep for $200,000, then gave it back to the auctioneer to sell it again. It sold the second time for another $100,000. In addition, a spectator donated $1,000,000 to Sinise’s Foundation in tribute to American veterans. And another generous donor from the Phoenix area gave another $10,000 to the Sinise Foundation. The total raised for our veterans was $1,310,000. 

With 1,800 vehicles in the sale, the 2019 Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction is in its 48th year. This is the biggest one ever. In fact, they say the auction lots were all sold out over a month ago. The lines of spectators have been the longest we’ve seen here. Watch for our posts on Facebook and Twitter.

Celebrity sitings and glimpses of rare collector cars are adding excitement to the laid back Valley of the Sun this week.  During Arizona Auction Week the Phoenix area becomes the epicenter of the collector car world. The top collector car auction companies are all here in the Phoenix area to benefit from the convocation of car collectors gathering for the 2019 Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale. Can you smell the money? Setting an electric atmosphere, some of the highest priced collector vehicles in the world will be sold here this week.

Of course, we’ll bring you all the action from the Barrett-Jackson Auction here in Scottsdale at Westworld. Gooding & Company Auction at Fashion Square

The highest priced car sold during Arizona Auction Week was not sold at the Barrett-Jackson Auction however. No, it was Gooding & Company that stole the show here in Arizona this year. When a 1963 Ferrari 250 GT SWB crossed the auction stage at the Gooding & Company Auction on Saturday morning, it became the top sale of all the auction houses here in Arizona this past week. The winning bid was $7,595,000 (with the auction house’s commission included.) In fact, Gooding & Company garnered the top three highest sales for the week, all classic Ferraris.  

The Gooding & Company Auction was at the Fashion Square Mall in downtown Scottsdale. The incredible selection of real high dollar investment vehicles included some of the most valuable Ferraris in the world, four Shelby Cobras, an L88 Corvette and a wide selection of Porsches.

RM Sotheby’s Auction at the Biltmore

Friday was the final night of the RM Sotheby’s 20th Annual Collector Car Auction at the Biltmore in Phoenix.  Some of the finest classic motorcars and European exotic cars in the world were offered here on Thursday and Friday.

Bonham’s Auction at Westin Kierland

A revered auction house, Bonham’s Auctioneers will hold their 2019 sale at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale this Thursday, January 17. The headliner car this year will be a 1954 Ferrari 500 Mondial Series II Spider which has been owned by iconic racers such as James Dean, Porfirio Rubirosa and John Von Neumann. It was also raced by the legendary Phil Hill. Bonham’s expects it to sell for $5 million to $6 million. The auction starts at 11 AM on Thursday.

Worldwide Auctioneers 

WorldWide Auctioneers stole the limelight here at Arizona Auction Week in the Valley of the Sun on Wednesday. The highest dollar sales so far this week were recorded at the WorldWide Auctioneers Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale. When a 1959 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster crossed the auction stage here it sold for $900,000. That was the highest sale recorded so far early in this Arizona Auction Week festival of cars. WorldWide Auctioneers is credited with putting on a very interesting small boutique auction here on McDowell Road in Scottsdale. There were so many vintage classics such as Duesenbergs, Auburns and Packards. They also sold a couple of very rare muscle cars (see below.)

RM Sotheby’s Petersen Museum Auction

RM Sotheby’s Petersen Museum Auction Prestigious Southern California Event

In a fitting ending to an amazing sale at the RM Sotheby’s Petersen Museum Auction, a 1956 Ferrari 290 MM sold for $20 million. It was the final sale in a long afternoon of exotic super cars passing over the auction block. Introducing the ’56 Ferrari race car with a reverent video history, RM Sotheby’s set the stage for a wild final sale for the afternoon. The bidding started at an unprecedented $10 million.

The right buyers were in attendance for the RM Sotheby’s Petersen Museum Auction sale of exclusive collector cars  in Petersen Automotive MuseumSouthern California today, December 8. The event was comparable to RM Sotheby’s groundbreaking New York collector car auctions, held biennially at Sotheby’s global headquarters in Manhattan. This is the first event to be held by RM Sotheby’s at the newly remodeled Petersen Automotive Museum. There were approximately 50 blue-chip collector cars, hand-selected by RM Sotheby’s global team of 30 Car Specialists. They say the offerings were fully researched for pedigree and historical provenance. For the top collectors from around the world the auction was an epic event.

  • 1932 Lloyd Bakan Ford Deuce Cpe, Lot # 169 sold for $360,000

The auction began with a very exclusive sale of items from Hollywood actor Steve McQueen, automotive creator Ed “Big Daddy” Roth and legendary painter Von Dutch. This unique inventory of incredible automotive related art and personal items was amazing. A “Big Daddy” Roth inspired recreation of the Mysterion (shown above) will be sold today, Lot # 168, early in the auction. 

Los Angeles is a world class venue with exciting accomodations, making for a perfect place to enjoy an auction event of this magnitude.

Fall Auburn Auction 2018 by RM Auctions

Fall Auburn Auction Saturday 

A flurry of activity stirred the crowd here at the Fall Auburn Auction this afternoon as nineteen cars from the Burdick Collection sold one right after the other. The collection also produced the top sale of the day as their 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300SL sold shortly after leaving the auction stage. When the classic 300SL crossed the auction block the bidding reached $750,000, but did not reach the reserve price. Later a final sale price of $852,500 was negotiated through auction officials. That price includes the buyer’s commission. 

Most auction watchers had thought another car from the collection was the highest actual sale. The elegant 1929 Duesenberg Model J Sedan sold for $737,000 (price includes the buyer’s commission.) That sale immediately followed another Burdick car, the 1929 Auburn 120 Eight Boattail Speedster in eye catching shades of brilliant green and black finish. The speedster sold for $330,000 (including the buyer’s commission) making it the fifth highest priced car to sell here during “Prime Time” Saturday. The Speedster had been estimated to sell for $150,000 by auction appraisers before the sale. The actual sale priced doubled the estimated sales price.

As the Auburns, Cords and Duesenbergs return home to Auburn, Indiana this weekend for the ACD Festival a 48-year-old tradition has also been fulfilled here as RM Auctions hosted the Fall Auburn Auction. This year’s Fall Auburn Auction, August 31-September 2, 2018, on Labor Day Weekend, was shaping up to be the one big national auction you just could not afford to miss.  700 vehicles were scheduled to cross the auction block for the giant sale. The auction at the Auburn Auction Park during the ACD Festival is a tradition that collectors dearly treasure. 

If you watched the Fall Auburn Auction with us on Saturday on the RM Auctions ‘live video stream” online, you know that some of the most interesting cars in the classic car hobby crossed the auction stage here in Auburn, Indiana this weekend. It was the 48th annual Labor Day collector car auction held  at the giant auction facility on the outskirts of Auburn.  The four days of spirited auction action resulted in $21.7 million in total sales, with a strong 81 percent of all lots sold. The total dollar figure represents a 12 percent increase in sales over 2017.

The Friday sale was a nice warmup for the weekend events here at the RM Auctions Park on the outskirts of Auburn, Indiana. Some of the medium priced collector cars could be found crossing the auction stage. Here are some of the highlights from the sale on Friday:

The giant auction park is home to the RM Auctions big Fall Auburn Auction, but also includes a swap meet, car corral and dozens of displays to entertain the automotive enthusiast. 

The Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Festival is a Homecoming for all the vintage motorcars produced here at the Auburn plant as they find their way back home to Auburn, Indiana. The annual Labor Day Homecoming is such an amazing display of Americana that we count it as one of the major car shows to add to your bucket list. Raleigh Spring Classic Auction – North Carolina Treasure Trove

What a sale! Some of the rarest cars we’ve seen all year. We put a wrap on the Raleigh Spring Classic Auction on Saturday. The Cars-On-Line.com car show team was onsite this weekend to bring you your first look at a cherished collector car sale. We are in Raleigh, North Carolina  to report all the action as the cars cross the auction block here at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds, June 22-23, 2018. Cars-On-Line.com is on hand along with half of the classic car dealers throughout the Southeastern United States in the Jim Graham Building.  This auction is getting a reputation for offering low miles classic and collectible cars, while the prices here remain affordable. 

We definitely got the sense that a lot of buyers were keeping their powder dry for the prime time Saturday auction. Here are some of the top cars we will be watching on Saturday here at the Raleigh Spring Classic Auction. A first impression is that there are a lot of classic woody station wagons here, and it seems that almost 20 percent of the vehicles are Cadillacs, many with low miles and in great shape. Click the link here to scan the auction inventory online.

Quite a crowd was on hand to see the cars to be offered here at Chris Lieth’s unique collector car auction in the Jim Graham Building at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. Cars-On-Line.com was on hand along with half of the classic car dealers throughout the Southeastern United States. The auction is getting a reputation for offering some of the top cars on the Eastern seaboard.

2018 Dodge SRT Demon Hot New Future Classic

2018 Dodge SRT Demon – Born To Be Collectible

Few cars are collectible from the moment they are born. But when the 2018 Dodge SRT Demon came off the assembly line in January there has been such a clamor for this retro classic Mopar that it looks like it is already collectible right from the gitgo. 

This past weekend five of these 2018 Dodge SRT Demon Challengers crossed the auction block in prime time. Three were sold and all were bid up over $120,000. And earlier this year Mecum Auctions sold one for $170,500 at the Houston sale. That is way above the $89,062 sales price which dealers are required to sell them for, if you can find one. The Mecum Auction specializes in American muscle cars so it was only fitting that it was at Dana Mecum’s Original Spring Auction in Indy that five of these special retro Mopar muscle cars were offered for sale. The first one to cross the auction block at Mecum last week was a black 2018 Dodge SRT Demon with just five miles on it. It stood there “still in the wrapper” with all the plastic wrap just like it is delivered to a dealership from the factory. (Follow this link to the Mecum promo informationn on Lot # T108.) It hasd no passenger seat, no back seat and no carpet in the trunk. All the race ready stuff was still in the crate. The factory race car sold for $126,500. 

Although the sticker price on a 2018 Dodge SRT Demon is $89,062, some dealers are selling the right to order the car apart from the price. (The reason for this is that Dodge is only allocating deliveries to dealers who keep the sale price below the MSRP.) Other dealers are only selling Demons to their priority customers. Dodge is still building the 3,000 initial production run of Demons and deliveries are still being scheduled. It is anticipated that there will be far more people who want to buy a 2018 Dodge SRT Demon than there are cars to sell. So the three cars being offered here in Indianapolis at the Mecum Auction were premium offerings. 

A black 2018 Dodge SRT Demon with the black interior sold for $143,000. (See the Mecum promo info for Lot # S178.1.) It too was without dealer prep and offered still “in the wrapper” from the factory. They say it had only five miles on the odometer. This one came with the Demon Crate Package – all the racing stuff. With the Demon Crate Package you can increase the horsepower from the base 808 to 840 hp. The Mecum promo said it also came with a special Demon Press Kit which was only available to those in attendance at the original Demon unveiling ceremony in New York City. Collectors will want to know that the Demon Press Kit will become a pricey collectible of its own. 

The car uses functional air-catcher headlamps and the Demon-exclusive enlarged hood scoop. Under that hood is the supercharged and intercooled 6.2L Hemi V-8 engine with aluminum heads and port fuel injection. A ZF 8-speed automatic with transbrake is behind it, and a 3.09 mechanical limited-slip differential can put this monster way into the triple-digit zone. Suspension parts like Bilstein shocks, hollow anti-roll bars, multi-link rear suspension, speed-sensing power steering and 4-wheel disc brakes. 

Insights From A Mopar Veteran

Earlier this year we interviewed Steve Magnante, TV personality and Dodge representative, while we were covering the Chrysler Nationals in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He was there to do a reveal on the new 2018 Dodge SRT Demon. He gave our photographer, Bob Boberg of eClassicAutos.com, some insights as to what to expect of the much talked about retro Demon. The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, street legal but designed for use on the drag strip, is the quickest production car ever built. With a 6.2-liter V-8 engine that produces 840 horsepower, the car can accelerate from 0–140 mph in about nine seconds. Only 3,000 are being built for the U.S. market and an additional 300 for Canada.

Most hot new performance cars are “under produced” so as to keep the demand high. If it is rare, people will be clamoring for it. But this 2018 Dodge SRT Demon may prove collectible right out of the chute. Will it depreciate in value like all other new cars do after so many years? Or will it be like the Ford GT where it continues to get more valuable every year? We think the latter.

Ken Lingenfelter Reviews Legendary Corvette L88

We were looking at the rare 1967 Corvette L88 big block in the display area at Dana Mecum’s Original Spring Classic Auction here in Indianapolis, Indiana. This car would be going through the auction on Friday. And we knew that Ken Lingenfelter, a well known Corvette builder and expert, was on the grounds. So we Tweeted him an invitation to do an interview on the L88 Corvette. A Corvette of that provenance and celebrity? He was all in. 

Here is what Ken Lingenfelter had to say about the breathtaking 1967 Corvette L88 at the Mecum Auction:

So what did it sell for? The L88 Corvette was Lot # F151 and went through the Mecum Auction on Friday, May 18, 2018. The high bid when all was said and done was $1.7 million. Evidently that did not meet the reserve price and the buyer did not release the reserve. 

There were only 20 L88 Corvettes produced in 1967, making it one of the most sought after American classic musle cars in existence. This one is the only one produced in Sunfire yellow, a popular ’67 color. It has received Bloomington Gold certification, one of the highest certifications in the Corvette hobby. Al Grenning has affirmed the authenticity of the engine pad and the trim tag on this legendary big block car. The restoration work was done by Steve Hendrickson. The original title, new car sales contract and it looks like the original window sticker in on the car as it is displayed. They say an original tank sticker is also with the car.  According to Hendrickson’s letter, the original chassis, L88 engine, M22 transmission, power brakes and master cylinder, suspension and trim were all retained; other components sourced to complete the restoration were new old stock. 

In an interesting side note, Mecum points out that the original title will go with the car. However, the car will be sold on a bill of sale. If the actual title were ever to be presented to a state for licensing to drive on public roads the original title would have to be surrendered to the state. The historic original title on this car is a part of its provenance. For it to be turned over to the motor vehicle department so it could be titled would be a travesty. Most likely the new owner would never re-title it just to keep the orignal title in his control.

Auburn Spring Auction 2018 in Prime Time

The Auburn Spring Auction 2018 Saturday sale is in the books. History has been made. It will be one to remember. Some high end vintage collector cars and exotic sports cars were sold here today. And, once again, classic 1950’s collector cars stole the show. For our Cars-On-Line.com readers and those who were there in attendance it was a fun packed day emersed in the nostalgia of yesteryear. Our Cars-On-Line.com show team was on hand to bring you the play-by-play all afternoon. 

There were a number of surprises in the Auburn Spring Auction 2018 today. We look at prices to spot trends in the collector car market. The prices we saw here today have impact on what you will pay for collector cars going forward. Let’s take a look at what happened:

It all happened this weekend, May 11-12, 2018, at the giant Auburn Auction Park. A true nostalgic experience for Baby Boomers, the Auburn Spring Auction 2018 is one of the highlights of the early collector car show season for 2018. It’s all about old iron looking like brand new. 

The Auburn Spring Auction 2018 is a fun weekend full of things collectors love, including a swap meet and car corral area on the Auction Park grounds in Auburn, Indiana. This year the RM Auctions event will also play host once again to the Triple Crown Meet, put on by the Antique Automobile Club of America and the Nash Car Club of America. Although the rain put a damper on the AACA show Saturday afternoon, we got to see most of the cars this morning before the rain came.  Here is a review of the cars on display:

Auburn is the home of three of the major U.S. car companies pre-war, i.e. Auburn, Cord and Duesenberg. The three companies thrived under the leadership of E.L. Cord who built his art deco headquarters and automotive plants here in Auburn. But the main show is RM Auctions noted sale of classic and collector cars inside the auction arena.

Our Cars On Line Car Show team traveled to Auburn to cover the show. Auburn was the headquarters of the Auburn, Cord and Duesenberg motorcar companies.  So it is only fitting that this collector car auction is located on the outskirts of this legendary city. The RM Auctions Auction Park includes a massive auction arena, auction displays, car show field, swap meet and car corral all of which will be open on May 10, 2018.

SATURDAY, April 21, 2018, Carlisle, PA  — As the Carlisle Car Show and Swap Meet roars into gear here for the big Saturday crowds, we were watching the Spring Carlisle Auction 2018 at the Carlisle Fairgrounds. In a surprise twist, the Saturday crowd included collectors looking for classic pickup trucks. And did they ever sell here today. Here are some of the top sales we saw  today:

Record sales for Thursday and Friday set the pace here at the Spring Carlisle Auction 2018 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. As the Carlisle Car Show and Swap Meet, April 19-22, 2018, entered its third day, the swap meet area was popping with parts hunters. The sun was out for a much nicer day here at the Carlisle Fairgrounds after the rain and cold experienced here Thursday.  Cars were backed up on Hwy I-81 as show goers waited in long lines to get into the Fairgrounds for the show. 

We’ve been talking about the Spring Carlisle Auction 2018 in our Cars-On-Line.com newsletter for the past month now. The time has finally come to follow the banter of the auctioneer’s chatter as the big spring event gets underway. Here are some of the cars which sold during the first two days:

On Thursday, we saw cars in the $50,000 range selling well. Our auction spotter tells us they sold about 60 percent of what crossed the auction block. With about 190 cars rolling across the auction stage, the auction lasted well into the early evening hours. This morning, Carlisle Events announced a record $2.1 million sales total for Thursday alone. 

What Carlisle is known for is its acres and acres of parts to swap. The Carlisle Swap Meet is centuries old and is what made the Carlisle collector car franchise what it is today. We can’t bring you the Carlisle Experience without taking a look through the Swap Meet area:

Amelia Island Auctions Highlight Week’s Events

Part of the fun of Concours Weekend are the Amelia Island Auctions here on the coast of Florida. During the Amelia Island Concours D’Elegance, March 8-11, 2018,  collectors enjoyed collector car sales by three of the top auction houses in the nation. The Bonhams Auction on Thursday, and the Gooding & Company Auction plus the RM Sotheby’s Auction, both on Friday, were very interesting sales of fine motorcars. They added greatly to the ambience of this this popular classic car weekend here on Amelia Island.

RM Sotheby’s Auction Rescheduled to Friday

To celebrate the atmosphere here at the Amelia Island Concours D’Elegance, RM Sotheby’s held an auction sale of fine motorcars. Rescheduled to Friday because of the forecast of impending storms on Saturday and Sunday, the RM Sotheyby’s sale was complemented by its livery of incredible collector vehicles. Total sales came in at $27.7 million for the one-day auction event. Here are the cars we followed at the RM Sotheby’s Auction:

Gooding & Company Auction on Friday

As we anticipated, the Gooding & Company Auction had some of the finest cars for sale here on Amelia Island. Their sales totaled over $35 million for the one-day auction. Here are the cars we followed at the Gooding & Company Auction:

We think the big story here on Friday happened at the Gooding & Company Auction when two barn finds sold for outrageous prices considering they are in need of total restoration to be show quality. A 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Long Nose Alloy sold for $2,530,000 and a 1967 Shelby S/C 427 sold for $1,045,000. Both of these cars had recently been discovered tucked away in a garage that was to be torn down in North Carolina.
