The 1963 Corvette Pro Street (shown above) will be among the most desirable cars in the high profile sale this weekend. Among the fine selection of desirable collector Corvettes to be sold is a car familiar to Car On Line readers. The Saturday prime time lineup of cars which will cross the auction block at this year’s Barrett-Jackson Auction includes the 1963 Corvette Pro Street which was chosen as last year’s 2012 CAR of the YEAR on the Cars On Line website.
The custom Split Window Corvette is billed as the “The World’s Fastest Street Legal Corvette,” certified by NHRA and IHRA Pro Mod- 7.50 ET and faster. Newsletter readers know that this car was designed and built by Rod Saboury, one of the world’s most noted Pro Street Corvette builders. The body is a real 1963 split window with original VIN plate and correct title, lengthened and widened hood with scoops to house the trubos. Lengthened 12″, 6″ in rear of front fenders, 4″ in the roof and 2″ in the rear quarters, quarter panels raised 2″, rear of body widened 3″, rear wing recessed into body, functioning trunk looks OEM.
Featuring a chromoly double frame rail chassis by Lowdown Hot Rods, Mike Moran 427 small block Chevy twin turbo engine producing 2,600hp and 1700 ft/lbs torque, has clocked times at 6.75 and 209mph in street trim. MRE sheet metal intake manifold with billet runners, Dart ‘Little Chief’ heads, custom headers by Larson, Dart billet block, 88mm Garrett turbos, Jesel distributor with Mag 44 cap, Big Stuff ‘Gen 3’ Pro SEFI and traction control. Racepak UDX digital display, Racepak V300 computer, 9″ AFT triple disc clutch, Titanium bellhousing, Lenco CS2 4-speed, Strange axles and disc brakes, Powermaster 210 amp alternator produces 18.5 volts, Weldon fuel pump with voltage reducer to slow pump down for street driving, 16-volt system, American Racing wheels with front spindle mounts and Mickey Thompson SR radials.
