Ponchos Convene at Wisconsin Resort
The Pontiac Oakland Club International Convention 2018 concluded here in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin on Thursday as Pontiac lovers from all over the world converged on the resort captial of Wisconsin. In the middle of some of the largest water parks in the world, the POCI put on its 46th Annual National Convention, June 24-28, 2018. This year’s POCI Convention was held at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. The resort stretches for acres with plenty of room for multiple showfield areas. From goats to angry birds it was a classic Poncho gathering to remember.
POCI officials estimated that there were 1,400 POCI members participating with 617 cars registered. Over 350 cars were on display at the Chula Vista Resort facility for show goers to drool over. Here is what we saw at the Pontiac Oakland Club International (POCI) Convention 2018:
A sea of Pontiacs greeted onlookers who were lucky enough to make it to the judging day ceremonies. The Pontiac Oakland Club International Convention usually has a high points survivor which takes the top award at the show. This year there were four cars that scored 399 points out of 400. That has never happened before.
The weather invited exploring the historic Wisconsin Dells area with cruises, boat tours and the big car show and judging at the Wednesday POCI Concours. Our photographer, Doug Bennett was on hand to capture some of the action in photos.
The Badger State Chapter and God’s Country Pontiac Association were the hosts for the Pontiac Oakland Club International Convention this year. To give you an idea of what it takes to put on a convention of this size, it took about 75 members of the two local chapters to coordinate this show.
Next year’s event is scheduled to be held in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, July 16-21, 2019.
