1937 Dodge Howe Firetruck
Kids were lining up to get their picture taken with this 1937 Dodge Howe Firetruck which was brought here to the Back to the 50s Weekend by James Dolence of Crystal, Minnesota. He says it has taken him many years to get this truck back on the road as a driver. “It seems like constant project,” he said. “You never get them completely done.”
Dolence has a 454 from a 1979 Chevy Pickup truck in this old girl. In the engine compartment you’ll see an Edelbrock intake and carburetor. He said a friend of his put in the current 383 gears.
This truck was one of the smaller style firetrucks built by the Howe Fire Apparatus Co out of Indianapolis, Indiana. They made firetrucks from Willys, Ford or Chevrolet trucks fore small towns that couldn’t afford the big rigs.
