1955 Ford Sunliner
“They nicknamed this car the Bumble Bee,” Dale Martin told us when we found it displayed on the main boulevard of the Minnesota State Fairgrounds during Back to the 50s Weekend. “These cars with the Goldenrod yellow and black tutone got that nickname because they were so characteristically ’50s looking.” Dale is the owner of this hot 50s classic. His family owns the Park and Sell Auto Mart in Ham Lake, Wisconsin. This car is one of his treasures.
The 1955 Ford Sunliner is a classic custom. It has had many of the traditional custom touches that were prevalent back in the day. For instance, you’ll notice the Packard tail lights in one of the photos below. It has been shaved, lowered and has frenched antennas. When you open the hood you’ll find a stock 272 ci Ford V8 with updated Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor. Only in the 50s would you have found a tutone combination like this.
