Choose the 2019 CAR of the YEAR!

Readers Poll for 2019 Car of the Year

The promotion and fanfare for our 2019 CAR of the YEAR poll was momentous. So it is time to announce which car our readers have chosen as Classic CAR of the YEAR for 2019. Drumroll please … RK Motors Charlotte will be happy to know that our readers chose their 1964 Ford Thunderbolt as their favorite in this year’s readers poll. From a field of fourteen very rare and desirable classic cars, muscle cars, street rods and even a classic pickup truck, the 1964 Ford Thunderbolt (a real one mind you) got 18 percent of the vote to be named CAR of the YEAR on the internet for 2019.

The CAR of the YEAR poll saw the lead change several times over the last week. Going into the final week, the 1967 Dodge Hemi Coronet R/T Convertible from REV Muscle Cars was the top car in the voting. Then the 1969 Boss 429 Mustang took over the lead at mid-week. But just in the last few days the Thunderbolt came on strong in the voting to take first place.

As happens every December, the end-of-the-year reviews for 2019 are coming out. So we thought our readers might like to relive what happened here on Cars-On-Line.com during 2019. 1964 Lincoln Continental at 2014 Iola Car Show

1964 Lincoln Continental Convertible

Glen Pentler of Uptown Motors in Milwaukee, Wisconsin attended the 2014 Iola Car Show with a 1964 Lincoln Continental Convertible that’s been lovingly cared for over the last many years. Uptown Motors sold it new in 1964 to Ken Ross, a close friend of Uptown’s owner, Irv Pentler. It stayed in the Ross family until Ken passed away in 1994, when it was sold back to Uptown, who have ensured it remains in excellent condition. Click on the images below for a larger view.

Holy Grail of Oldsmobile found after 35 years

Every car tells a story. It’s 1970, and you have purchased a beautiful new Oldsmobile 442 Convertible with the highly desirable W30 package. Not many people know about the W30 option except for those who read the car magazines. But you’ve managed to order one with a 4-speed. It is red with black W30 stripes, black top and black interior. It has the monster Olds 455 big block motor, rated at 370 horsepower for 1970 with the W30 option. It has the ultimate Oldsmobile street package for its day with a smooth shifting manual transmission and 3.91 gears … and its fast. Too fast! It’s your pride and joy. But you have a bit of a drinking problem and you lose your license in the next two years. So you put the Olds 442 convertible in the garage with only 39,000 miles and some change.
