1934 Ford Pickup Great 8 Award Winner at 2018 Detroit Autorama

All-Steel 1934 Ford Pickup
Owned by Danielle Lutz of Moscow, Pennsylvania, builder Jason Graham Hot Rods of Portland, Tennessee. 347 ci small block Ford motor, Englese stacked injection, Tremec 5-speed transmission and a Winter Quick Change rear end which is exposed. The interior by Gil Vigil of Speed & Design is done in made-to-order special leather. The paint was done in an original Ford Washington blue color by PPG. Chrome was done by Advance Plating. The owner had the truck for two years before she sent it down to Jason Graham’s shop. Graham will spend the next year showing the all-steel 1934 Ford Pickup at national shows. Then, Danielle says, when she gets it back home she intends to drive it.

1969 Chevy Camaro Great 8 Award Winner at 2018 Detroit Autorama

1969 Chevy Camaro Named to Great 8
Owned by Stuart Adams of Mooresville, North Carolina. Car was built by Detroit Speed. Builder: Detroit Speed. They call it the Tux because it is a car that is “eloquent, sophisticated and, hopefully, never goes out of style.” And it’s mirror quality black. This car has been in the Detroit Speed shop in development for the past nine years. It looks like a 1969 Chevy Camaro but the car is all custom refabricated with the best in today’s technology and equipment.

The car has a Kurt Urban built supercharged LS2 motor with a Harrop Supercharger. The Tremec 6-speed transmission was built by Bowler. It has a Detroit Speed front hydroformed subframe, a Detroit Speed Quadralink and Detroit Speed mini tubs. It sits pretty low and has a hundreds of body modifications. For instance the stock looking door handle button is operated on a micro-switch so the door moves open on its own power. Inside it has a custom dash and leather covered Recaro type seats. The car actually operates off of its own IP address on the internet.

We were able to catch Kyle Tucker, owner of Detroit Speed, with the incredible 1969 Chevy Camaro street machine in a full video interview. The 1969 Chevy Camaro which took nine years of work, had already been named a Great 8 Winner at this point on Saturday. He tells us about “The Tux” here.

Tucker says you will see this car at the Goodguys Nationals in Columbus, Ohio, and will be entered into the Battle of the Builders at SEMA next fall.

1967 Camaro SS Resto Mod

The 1967 Camaro SS Resto Mod is owned by Chris & Greg Allen of Selbyville, Delaware. On Friday, it was selected as a Great 8 Award winner and eligible to win the prestigious Ridler Award here at the Detroit Autorama for 2018. It was entered in the Full Hardtop category. Among the builders here at the show they say it is the odds on favorite to win. The detailing and extent of the custom fabrication on this car is impressive. Ed Denkenberger and Roger Allen of Superior Autoworks are credited with the build. There is an awful lot of CNC created parts and custom chrome plating in this build. The 355 LT1 Chevrolet engine is supercharged

1933 Ford Sedan Delivery

Albert Seese of Lee’s Summit, Missouri designed and built the chassis for his 1933 Ford Sedan Delivery. It was so loved by the judges here at the 2014 Detroit Autorama show that it has been included in the Great 8 group of finalists for the 2014 Ridler Award. It is a high honor and one well deserved by a veteran rodder. He says it started life as a 1933 Ford Sedan but has been restored to a custom Sedan Delivery look, with over 200 body modifications.

It includes a 2005 Corvette suspension, LS2 engine, Corvette transaxle and Budnik wheels with custom centers. The House of Color paint is excellent. Paint, trim and custom interior are so interesting that you could stand there all day looking at the intricacies. Albert says the interior was all custom fabricated using an Isis Multiplex System. It has Dakota Digital gauges, Cerullo seats and Vintage air.
