1933 Ford 5-Window Coupe
This 1933 Ford 5-Window Coupe is a good example of what it take to make it into the Great 8 ranks of finalists contending for the 2014 Detroit Autorama. This is a tough competition this year. Rocky Roler of Creative Rod & Kustom in Southampton, New York is the owner who brought it to Detroit to compete for the Ridler Award. It was entered in the Altered Street Coupe Pre-1935 category.
Reworked and smoothed to eliminate all factory lines and gaps, this 1933 Ford 5-Window Coupe is a state-of-the-art hot rod so elegant it is more a work of metal sculpture than a hot rod. Of course, the roof was chopped 4″ and the body was channeled 3″ over the frame. The grille shell was scratch built from steel with an integrated radiator cover. The entire wheel wells were cut out and refabricated to better fit the flow of the body. Then the entire rear section was removed and a new rear section was fabricated including the trunk lid. Needless to say this was an entire reworking of the body, frame and sheet metal, making it an entire new car with the ’33 Ford coupe original as a template. The interior is as well-thought out as the exterior.
