Classic Car Prices Are On The Rise Again
Classic Car Prices Up 3.8 Percent in 2016 …
Classic car prices are on the rise again this year, according to a new Market Trends Report by Cars On Line.com. For the spring 2016 market, collector car values are up 3.8 percent. Cars On Line.com compiled statistics on collector cars from auction results, trusted price guides and actual sales on the Cars On Line website for the first five months of 2016. Readers can see the sample group below in a chart which compares average current prices for 2016 with results from December of 2015.
Proof that classic car prices are on the rise again comes from the chart you will see below. With the 3.8 percent increase for 2016 combined with a 5.1 percent increase in average pricing in 2015, Cars On Line points out that this is the first consistent two-year consecutive increase in collector car values since the economic recession in 2009. If you are a classic car owner you have probably been holding your breath waiting for the market to rebound. It has taken eight years to do it but current collector car prices have finally caught up with the average collector car values in 2008 at the height of the pre-recession market.
Cars On Line.com keeps records on the average selling prices on popular classic and muscle cars. They see more cars sold than anybody in the collector car hobby, plus they run the most credible Classic Car Inspection and Appraisal service in support of the hobby. Cars On Line.com is the most accurate source for classic car values in the U.S.
Here are the final statistics on pricing for Cars On Line.com’s sample group of collector cars that trade most frequently in the collector car market. The first column records the average prices on No. 2 condition cars at the end of 2008 at the height of the market prior to the recession. The second column records final average prices for 2015. And the last column shows current average prices.

Contrary to what some in the media would have you believe, the collector car market is inextricably attached to the U.S. econonmy. The collector car market should see prices rise in 2016. The one thing that clouds its future is the state of the economy. If the stock market gets into one of its many corrections it could stall the upward trend of collector car values.
