Raleigh Classic Fall Auction 2021
The Saturday sale here at the Raleigh Classic Fall Auction started off with a monster record breaking sale early on Saturday morning. The heavily anticipated Boyd Collection of quality classic Cadillacs crossed the auction block. With a flurry of excitement the top car in the collection, a 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible sold for $285,000. That is an auction record, highest priced car ever sold here. The auctioneers were flush with the momentum of that high profile sale. It was an exciting way to start off the early part of the Saturday sale here in Youngsville, North Carolina.

With a larger than usual turnout of bidders registered here for the weekend auction sale at the Capitol Auto Auction facility in Youngsville, North Carolina, it was anticipated that some pretty high auction prices would result. We were not disappointed. The sell through rate was about 85 percent by our numbers. That is significant because this auction allows consignors to set reserves.
The Raleigh Classic Fall Auction in Youngsville this weekend was the last big collector car auction we would be covering in 2021. It is the last big classic car auction for the year. And it was the best we’ve seen in a long time. More bidders, more cars, more action.
“They’ve registered more bidders here than they ever did before,” Bob Boberg told us. He is our photo journalist covering the sale for Cars-On-Line.com. “Proxibid told me they have the highest number of online bidders that they’ve ever had here.” Proxibid is an auction software company that allows auctions to be conducted online. At a live in-person auction such as this one, they integrate the bidding so that online buyers can place their bids in real time.
The top sale of the day on Friday was a 1961 Jaguar XK120 Roadster which sold for $117,500. Here are some of the results we noticed on Friday with a packed house of bidders for most of the afternoon.
