All the build up and all the excitement leading up to the big Saturday sale here at the World’s Greatest Collector Car Auction was justified as world class buyers tore the roof off this place on Saturday, the day they refer to as “Prime Time” here.
Some of the most desirable Corvette muscle cars of all time were sold here today. The top sale was a 1967 Corvette L88 Coupe, one of only 20 such cars ever produced, and considered to be the only red on red L88 coupe, a one of one in collector car jargon. This is a real deal 1967 Corvette L88 Coupe, one of the most sought after Corvettes of all time. It is said to be documented and have the L88 427 HD, M22 4-speed, J56 heavy duty brakes, J50 power brakes, F41 suspension, K66 transistor ignition, G81 4.56 posi-traction and shoulder harness. This is the only 1967 L88 to have attained an NCRS 98.2 Regional Top Flight 2001. When it sold for $3.5 million here during 2014 Barrett-Jackson Auction “Prime Time” it set the record as the most money ever paid for an L88 Corvette.
